Walter began drawing at an early age and always
considered a life in art. After a year in college in Texas,
Walter moved to California and studied portrait and figurepainting with Bob Gerbracht in San Jose, for two years.
Thereafter
he attended San Jose State University and studied with Maynard
Stewart, who had been a student of Frank Vincent Dumond
at the Art Students League of New York.
Walter
received a BA in Art from SJSU and was elected to
the Golden Key Honour Society. Walter then moved to New York fulfilling
his high school dream - to study at the Art Students League
of New York. From 1988 to 2000 Walter studied at the League,
primarily with Frank Mason, who had been a Dumond student
himself and succeeded in his classes at the League.
Walter
has lived in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY since
1989. Almost every day except when business, family or practical
matters get in the way.Variety of subject matter, still lifes,
