According
to an article published by USA
Today, Duane was 'one of those artists lucky
to sell a couple of paintings a year.'
Nowadays,
he is almost certain to sell one each and every
day.
In
late 2004, Duane decided to 'test his discipline',
and create a new painting every day, 'without excuses'.
He would post an image of the postcard painting
to his blog, and offer it for sale. Soon,
his blog gained the attention of several blogs that identify
online trends.
|
Suddenly,
his 'experiment' took off, with collectors viewing,
commenting on,
and even purchasing
a painting within minutes of him posting it on his
blog!
|
|
Many
other artists since then have followed suit, with internet
blogs buzzing daily with new images of postcard
paintings for sale.
Below
is a small sampling of artists that have commited to painting
every day:

Justin
Clayton,
31, a former video game artist in Los Angeles, says
he 'was inspired by Keiser to quit his day job last year
to make small oil paintings' for his blog, which
started in January,
2006.
Justin told USA Today that, 'The Internet makes it possible
for me or anyone to be an artist. Just the sheer
numbers out there, there's bound to be someone in the world
interested in your art'.

| Maryanne
Jacobsen, was once Artistic Director of a very successful
regional ballet company. She directed dozens of dancers through
scores of magnificent productions. |

She
danced, choreographed, taught workshops, designed costumes,
and directed teachers. That was ten years ago. Today, Maryanne
finds serenity in a visual art form that, "I long thought
I would never have a chance to pursue. Here therefore, is
my daily paint dance."

| AJ
LaGasse
is a former computer consultant/graphics artist from
New York City that decided in 2001 to pursue painting
full time, after witnessing both the 1993, and 2001
terrorist attacks to the World Trade Center in
NYC. (See
AJ's account of the 1993 bombing here.) |

AJ
had been creating abstract paintings for friends and through
word of mouth since the mid-80's. It was only after 9/11/2001
that he started painting professionally.
'This
last tragic event was a wake up call for many people, myself
included', said AJ. 'Life is way too short to not fulfill
all of your passions. Painting has always been
one of them, so I figured that this was something that I just
had to do full time, before it's too late'.

|
AJ
started selling paintings on
eBay in late 2003.
He started his daily
paintings blog in late 2006, when he realized that
he was painting every day, and wanted to capture the
daily painting in a diary format. To date, AJ
has sold over 1,000
original paintings online.
