Anne McNally is a professional artist whose body
of work reflects an extensive background of painting oil on canvas,
(and now linen) renderings of classic subjects in a traditional
style.
Recently she has made the transition in style to contemporary
abstraction; a distillation of familiar subjects painted with
energy and emotion. Her lifelong love and facination of color
and light is still evident. She believes that classic subjects
and the abstract expression of them can co-exist in an
individual painting and she continues to explore that possibility.
"Many
paintings paint themselves.....there is an unconscious desire
to impart or communicate a place,a sense of being, or a memory
of the conscious or unconscious mind driven by emotion.
Anne
maintains a studio in D'ART CENTER, a non-profit
organization which allows affordable rental studios in downtown
Norfolk, Virginia.
Her
work can be found in both corporate and private collections
in many states including: Washignton, DC, Virginia, Maryland,
Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, North Carolina,
New Jersey, Maine and California. Anne had participated in many
juried shows and in recent years won several awards.
